About Child of the Earth
Child of the Earth Community Interest Company was established in 2023 by Emily, a community paediatric doctor and Jack, a forest school leader and outdoor leader.
Our mission is to widen access to nature by providing joyful and inclusive nature-based experiences to children, their families and communities. Our work is focused on children and families with additional needs and challenges such as disability, neurodiversity and low income.
We work in collaboration and partnership with local authorities, schools, companies and other non-profit organisations.
Our Approach
Our three core aims are rooted the importance of
Connection:
- Connecting to ourselves: We aim to provide safe spaces and tools for self-discovery and self-expression
- Connecting to others: We aim to build relationships and connections across our local community and beyond
- Connecting to our environment: We aim to deepen nature connection, knowledge and stewardship of the more-than-human world
Our work is grounded in the following
Principles:
- Nature connection
- Trauma-informed practice
- Person-centred
- Unconditional positive regard
- Sharing and meeting needs
- Shared decision making
